Mike Alterman

Mike Alterman is an American jazz pianist , keyboardist , film composer and arranger .

Alterman was briefly a member of Woody Herman and His Orchestra in the 1960s , on whose LP Woody Live: East and West (1967) he can be heard. He toured with Chet Baker and played keyboarder in Gershon Kingsley 's First Moog Quartet in 1970 . After earning a master's degree in musicology and composition from Queens College in New York, he played in various big bands and Broadway musicals for five years with Bob Fosse . In his later years he worked primarily as a composer, orchestra conductor and arranger for film and television. In 2009 he released the albums That's Cool and One Thousand Lights of Ladakh .
