Mike Gordon (politician)

Mike Gordon (born November 15, 1957 in Lynwood , † June 25, 2005 in El Segundo ) was an American politician.

Political career

Gordon was a member of the Democratic Party . On the El Segundo city council since 1996, Gordon became mayor of this small town in 1998. In late 2004, he resigned to run for the California State Assembly (District 53). He won the election against three competitors with a little more than 50% of the vote and was sworn in in December 2004. A few months later, Gordon was diagnosed with a brain tumor . He died after only 202 days in office at the age of 47.

During his brief tenure, Mike Gordon introduced 19 bills , four of which became law after his death.
