Mike Huster (born October 7, 1972 in Gera ) is a German politician of the Die Linke party . He was a member of the Thuringian State Parliament from 1999 to 2018 . Since 2019 he has been Vice President of the State Audit Office of the Free State of Thuringia .

Career

Education and training

Huster grew up in the Gera district of Langenberg and from 1989 attended the extended secondary school , which he graduated with the Abitur in 1992. From 1993 to 1999 he studied political science, sociology and psychology in Leipzig . He completed his studies with a master's degree . The title of his master's thesis was " Federalism in Germany in the 1990s between German unity and European integration - with particular consideration of considerations on the reorganization of the federal territory".

Political career

In the course of the political turnaround , he got involved with Die Nelken and the United Left . In response to the Second Gulf War , he joined the PDS in 1991 .

In 1994, Mike Huster was elected to the Gera City Council for the first time, to which he belonged continuously until the end of 2018. Huster has been a member of the city's youth welfare committee, main committee, and budget and finance committee over time. From 2009 to the end of 2018 he was a member of the supervisory board of TPT Theater und Philharmonie Thüringen GmbH . From 2014 until his resignation from the city council in 2018, Huster headed the budget and finance committee of the city of Gera.

From 1995 to 1997 Huster was a member of the PDS state board and from 1996 to 2002 he was deputy PDS city chairman in Gera. In the 1999 state elections he was elected to the Thuringian state parliament for the first time, where he was first spokesman for youth and education policy, and then in 2001 for budget and financial policy spokesman for his parliamentary group. From 2009 to 2014 Huster was chairman of the budget and finance committee of the Thuringian state parliament. From 2014 until his job-related resignation from the Thuringian state parliament in 2018, he held the position of deputy chairman of the parliamentary group Die Linke in the Thuringian state parliament.

On January 1, 2019, Huster was elected Vice-President of the Thuringian State Audit Office and therefore resigned his political mandate on December 31, 2018.

Engagement and hobbies

Huster initiated the KulturNetzGera with other activists and is still involved here today. He is a member of the Society of Theater and Concert Friends Gera eV to support the Altenburg-Gera Theater and of the Friends of the Crossen Castle eV
