Mike Lünsmann (born November 23, 1969 in Berlin ) is a former German soccer player and current coach .

Player career

Lünsmann made his debut at the age of 18 in 1988 in the 2nd Bundesliga at Hertha BSC . In his second professional season at the latest, he had a regular place and was promoted to the Bundesliga with Berlin . In the 1990/91 season, which was to remain his only one in the Bundesliga, he was able to book 28 appearances (three goals). He then played for Hertha in the 2nd Bundesliga for another five years and thus became the record player for Berlin in the 2nd division.

After the Berliners no longer offered him a new contract in 1996, he moved to the Regionalliga West / Südwest at LR Ahlen . He didn't feel at home there (LR Ahlen was an “unattractive place to work”) and after a season he went back to eastern Germany, to FC Sachsen Leipzig . Here he found his old form again and scored 15 goals in 17 games in the first half of 1997/98 in the Regionalliga Nord, whereupon he switched to competitor Tennis Borussia Berlin during the winter break . In Berlin things went less well for the 1.84 m tall striker: He only scored six goals in two and a half years and was also out of almost the entire 1999/00 season due to an adductor injury. His substitution on April 10, 2000 against VfL Bochum was the first league game for Lünsmann in nine months. After the season he went back to FC Sachsen Leipzig in the Regionalliga Nord.

For the 2001/02 season he moved to the Berlin AK 07 in the major league and in winter the then club division SV Yeşilyurt Berlin was his next stop after twelve goals in 15 games in the first half of the season. Here he scored 16 goals in 18 games in the second half of the season. 2002/03 he was able to book promotion to the league with his club. In the following season, however, Lünsmann was only used once and then moved to the company sports league. In 2006 he went to the state league for SC Gatow . For the 2007/08 season he moved to SC Charlottenburg in the association league.

In addition to his work as a coach, Lünsmann then played from the second half of the 2008/09 season in the senior division (Ü32) of SC Charlottenburg, where he helped to rise as top scorer in the 2009/10 national league, where he still played in the first half of 09/10.

Since the beginning of the 2010/11 season, Lünsmann has been playing in the AH division of Hertha BSC, while at the same time he continues to play in the top division of the company sports league in Berlin, here for Gillette and has won several Berlin championships with this team.

Coaching career

Lünsmann is currently (2010) the youth coach of LFC Berlin . From 2007 he looked after the F-youth and is now the trainer of the E-youth.
