Mike Vossnacke (born January 30, 1965 ) is a former German soccer player who was with MSV Duisburg between 1983 and 1990 .

Career

Vossnacke made the leap into the squad of the second division MSV Duisburg in 1983 at the age of 18. The player, mainly in the defensive midfield and occasionally as a striker , made his debut on the first day of the match, which took place on August 6, 1983, and was even in the starting line-up in the 0-0 draw against SC Freiburg . Afterwards he was hardly considered before he established himself as a joker in the second half of the season and was thus regularly substituted. The Meidericher finished the season in third place in the table and were therefore allowed to play two relegation games against Eintracht Frankfurt for promotion to the Bundesliga. Vossnacke was substituted on in the first leg in the 55th minute, but could not avert a 5-0 defeat of his team. By a 1-1 in the second leg, in which he was in the starting line-up, the remaining in the second division was sealed.

The failed promotion made it possible for the young talent at least to fight for a permanent place at MSV during the 1984/85 season. In 1986, the team finished last in the table, which resulted in relegation to the third-class Oberliga Nordrhein. Vossnacke was one of a number of players who remained loyal to the club despite the fall into the amateur area and tackled the promotion. Nevertheless, he had to fear for his regular place, because with Thomas Strunz a great talent, who later became a national player, moved up into the squad in the same year. He continued to play regularly in a team that immediately placed itself in the top tier of the league and in 1987 just failed to rise in second place. However, this place in the table brought with it the qualification for the final round of the German amateur championship, Duisburg made it to the final and thanks to a 4-1 win against the amateur team of Bayern Munich Vossnacke won his first title on this way.

The longed-for promotion came back in 1989 and Vossnacke returned to the second division with his MSV. On August 23, 1989, he made his comeback in professional football in a 2-1 defeat against Hertha BSC . Since he no longer had any prospects in the ambitious team, this was also his only assignment in the 1989/90 season. At the end of this, the 25-year-old left the MSV, for which he had come to 82 second division games with four goals and 69 upper division games with six goals in seven years.
