Mike Winch
Mike Winch (actually Michael Archer Winch; born July 20, 1948 ) is a former British shot putter and discus thrower .
In 1974 he won silver in the shot put for England , starting at the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch . At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg he was seventh and twelfth at the European Athletics Championships in Rome .
At the Commonwealth Games in Edmonton in 1978 , he was fifth in the shot put and ninth in the discus throw.
In the shot put he finished seventh at the European Indoor Championships in 1979 in Vienna and won silver again at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.
In the shot put he was three times English champion (1981, 1982, 1984), seven times English indoor champion (1973, 1979-1984) and once British champion (1980).
