Miles Island is an island in the South Georgia archipelago in the South Atlantic . It is located in the Icefjord and is the largest of the islands in front of the entrance to Miles Bay .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2009 based on the name of the bay. It is named after the whaling ship Don Miles , which was owned by the Compañía Argentina de Pesca of the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Carl Anton Larsen in 1934 .
