Military memorial for 1813/1815

The military monument for 1813/1815 was donated by King Maximilian I Joseph of Bavaria on December 4, 1814 and could be awarded to all participants in this war. By decree of March 27, 1817, it was also extended for the war year 1815.

Appearance

The bronze cross shows the inscription FOR THE YEARS 1813 AND 1814 from top to bottom on the arms of the cross . The intertwined initials of the founder MJ (Maximilian Joseph) can be seen in the medallion , which is enclosed by a laurel wreath . On the reverse of the arms of the cross KÖNIG UND FATHER LAND and in the center a crowned lion with sword and scepter walking to the left . Also enclosed here by a laurel wreath.

Carrying method

The award was worn on a white ribbon with light blue and black side stripes on the left chest.

Others

Prince Carl Philipp von Wrede , the commander in chief of the Bavarian armed forces , was the only one to receive a special form of the military emblem. This was twice as big and was worn as a neck medal.
