The Hamadan Air Base (also English Hamedan Airbase, Shahrokhi Airbase or Nojeh Airbase ) is a military airfield of the Iranian Air Force. It is located in Hamadan Province in northwestern Iran , about 47 km north of the provincial capital Hamadan .

The air base became known to the public as the starting point of the Nojeh coup . The coup was a planned coup attempt on July 9, 1980 (18. Tir 1359) with the code name "NEGHAB" ( mask ), with which Prime Minister Abolhassan Banisadr and the entire leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran including its leader Khomeini should be overthrown.

The base came into the public eye again in August 2016 when, as part of the Russian military operation in Syria, at Syria's request , Russian bombers were refueled here in order to attack positions of the Islamist militias in Syria. On August 21, 2016, Iranian Defense Minister Hussein Dehghan announced that the use of the military airfield had been restricted to this mission and that Russian aircraft would not be permanently stationed in Iran.
