Milites Templi

Milites Templi ( Latin : soldiers of the temple) is a papal bull dated January 9, 1144, with which Pope Celestine II confirmed the rules of the Templar Order .

The Pope instructs the clergy to support the Knights Templar and also places the order of knights under their protection. Furthermore, he confirms the recognition of the order, as it had already been made in 1139 by Pope Innocent II with his papal bull Omne datum optimum . With this bull, Celestine II allowed additional privileges , such as allowing the noble friars to hold Holy Masses once a year in regions that were actually under interdict .
