Milkilu

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Milkilu ( Milku is the god ) was governor or prince of the city of Gezer in ancient Israel during the Amarna period . He is known from the Amarna letters . The letters primarily report feuds between the individual princes in Palestine . The Apiru , who were apparently warlike gangs , presented a particular threat . Milkilu appears in various letters from other princes accusing him of being at war. A letter from the Egyptian king to Milkilu has survived (EA 369). The letters are not dated. As a result, they cannot be sorted and no chronology of events can be created. The name of the Egyptian king cannot be determined with absolute certainty either. Akhenaten , under whom most of the Amarna letters are dated , is particularly suitable.
