Milky Way
Milky Way is a chocolate bar made by Mars Incorporated . It consists of candy cream that is coated with milk chocolate . Milky Way was invented by Frank C. Mars in 1923 .
Surname
Contrary to popular belief that the bar was named after the Milky Way (our galaxy ), it was named after a malt milkshake that was popular at the time and whose taste it mimicked.
history
Initially, the cream (and with it the bar except for the caramel cream ) was identical to Mars' . In 1990 the recipe was changed, since then the cream filling has a whitish color with a similar consistency and slightly different taste. In 2007 and 2010 it was changed again, with the fat content being reduced in 2010. While a bar previously weighed 26 grams, since April 2009 it has only been 21.9 grams. The price for a bar, however, has remained the same.
In the advertising of candy bars was mainly due to the slogan "So fluffy and light, which even floating in milk ." Known. An intact Milky Way owes this property to its low density of around 0.88 g / cm³.
variants
In Germany there was also a strawberry version of Milky Way. In addition, waffle rolls with milk cream are offered under the brand name Crispy Rolls . The Milky Way Midnight with dark chocolate, which is otherwise only available in the USA, was also temporarily sold in Germany.
Milky Way in the US is different from the product otherwise sold worldwide. The US version, with its caramel layer, corresponds to the chocolate bar known in Europe as Mars . The chocolate bar, which corresponds to the European Milky Way in the USA, is called 3 Musketeers ("3 Musketeers"). It is similar in appearance and taste, but not identical.
