The Millionaire Chess , also known as the Millionaire Chess Open , is a public chess tournament for professional chess players and amateurs that has been organized in the USA since 2014 . With a cash prize of $ 1,000,000, it is the highest endowed open chess tournament in the world.

The first tournament took place from October 9th to 13th, 2014 in Las Vegas . It was divided into 6 tournaments, including the Open and other tournaments with divisions from 1400 to 2200 Elo . The Grandmaster Wesley So won the tournament in the final against Ray Robson , a prize awarded by US $ 100,000. Chinese grandmaster Yu Yangyi came third in the tournament . In addition to the main tournament, the respective tournament winners of the respective league tournaments were rewarded with $ 40,000 and US $ 24,000.

Millionaire Chess Open 2015

The second edition of the Millionaire Chess Open took place from October 8th to 15th, 2015.
