Mimus
Mimus ( Latin , from the Greek μῖμος, mîmos "imitator, actor") is a term from the theater of ancient Greece and therefore denotes:
- a dramatic form of the ancient theater, see theater of Roman antiquity # genres of comedy and
- a term derived from this for the mime actor.
Based on this, Mimus is also:
- the name of the Hamburg amateur theater Theater Mimus ;
- the name of the Mimus-Bühne Waldhausen , co-organizer of the Seefestspiele Silva Waldhausen ;
- the title of an award-winning book for young people by Lilli Thal : the book is set in the Middle Ages , there is war between two neighboring kingdoms, a peace treaty proves to be a trap and the prince Florin ends up not in dungeon on a whim of the "perjury king", but as a student with Court jester mimus;
- included in the title of several books by the director Arthur Maria Rabenalt , its most famous title Mimus Eroticus was taken over by the 1986 documentary about Rabenalt;
- the surname of Jaffari Mimus , a major exponent of Tingatinga painting .
In biology , Mimus is the generic name of the mockingbirds within the family of the same name (Mimidae) and also serves as:
- Part of the name ( -mimus or -mimo- ) of many saurian genera , v. a. within the Ornithomimosauria ,
- Species name of Glyptodontopelta mimus , a Nodosaurus , which externally resembles a Glyptodon ,
- Species name of the tetra Hemigrammus mimus ,
- Species name of the real octopus ( Octopus mimus ),
- Species name of the white-winged bat ( Pipistrellus tenuis mimus ),
- Species name of the light-eyed fish ( Plataplochilus mimus ),
- Species name of the South American field mouse ( Akodon mimus ),
- Species name of the fleabane ( Erigeron mimus ),
- Species name of the cherry myrtle ( Eugenia mimus ).
