Minamoto no Tsunenobu

Minamoto no Tsunenobu ( Japanese 源 経 信 ; * 1016 ; † February 20, 1097 ) was a high-ranking official ( kugyō ) at the imperial court, Kanshi and Waka poets, and musicians.
Life
Minamoto no Tsunenobu was the son of Gon-Chūnagon Minamoto no Michikata and a daughter of the governor of Harima Minamoto no Kunimori. In 1065 he became the imperial chief secretary ( 蔵 人頭 , kurōdo no tō ) and in 1091 Dainagon . In 1094 he received the post of extraordinary military governor of Dazaifu ( 大 宰 権 帥 , dazai no gon no sochi ). As a result, he was also referred to as Gen Totoku ( 源 都督 ), where Gen is the Sino-Japanese reading of his family name Minamoto and totoku (Chin. Dūdū ) is a Chinese official title for a military province governor , based on his post as dazai no gon no sochi .
One of his sons was the poet Minamoto no Toshiyori .
poetry
His first poems appeared in the collection Yūshi Naishinnō-ke Meisho Uta-awase . As a poet, he was a competitor of Fujiwara no Michitoshi , to whose imperial collection of poems Goshūi-wakashū he created a counter-collection.
His own collection of poems has been preserved, and 86 of his poems have been included in the Goshūi-Wakashū collection and other imperial collections such as Kin'yō-wakashū . In Katsura near Kyoto, Tsunenobu founded a school for the Biwa game. He is therefore also called Katsura Dainagon ( 桂 大 納 言 ) after his place of residence .
