Minden marathon
The Minden-Marathon belonged measured by the number of participants to the great landscape marathon in Germany. The route led from Minden on the Weser through the Porta Westfalica in a loop through the Minden-Lübbecke mill district back to Minden.
The German or even international cross-country elite were not represented at the Minden Marathon, the first places were chosen by regional top athletes, but the run could keep up with the big ones in terms of organization and the enthusiasm of the spectators on the route. The course record was set for women in 2004 by Anke Kemmener (born 1968, ATSV Espelkamp) with 2:50:36. In 2005, Marcus Biehl (born 1969, SV Brackwede) ran a course record of 2:26:32 for the men.
history
The first Minden marathon was held in 2001. The organizer was TuS Eintracht Minden e. V. The company ROSE Systemtechnik in Porta Westfalica was the organizer of the marathon and provided organizational support. That is why the race was officially called the Rose Marathon Minden. The track was tested by the German Athletics Association (DLV) and met international standards. The time recording was done by ChampionChip .
In the second round in 2002, the number of finishers rose from 778 to 906. It only looked as if the Minden Marathon in the following years would benefit from the ongoing enthusiasm for running in Germany and exceed the 1,000 finish mark. In fact, however, there is a downward trend.
Since the interest of both the participants and the co-sponsors decreased, the management of Rose Systemtechnik announced in June 2006 that it would be the main sponsor and withdraw from the organization of the Minden Marathon as an annual running event.
Since 2009 there has been a continuation in the Minden Lübbecke district, the Porta-Marathon .
