The Minden Children's Choir was a nationally well-known children's choir in the East Westphalian city of Minden , which was founded in 1946 by Erich Watermann and which he directed until 2000. The choir was dissolved on November 18, 2010.

history

The newly founded children's choir, which at that time still performed under the name Children's Choir Weserland , made its first appearance in 1946 in the Minden City Theater . The choir, founded by the DRK , belonged to the sports club Eintracht Minden until 1950 , then the choir became independent and changed its name to the Minden Children's Choir at the suggestion of the city of Minden.

In 1963 Konrad Adenauer invited the choir to his office in the Federal Chancellery.

In 1973 the choir went on a tour of America, which took them to Washington to the German ambassador and to UNICEF .

At the competition of the choirs in Llangollen in Wales the Minden Children's Choir won 3rd place in 1972, and in 1982 this success was repeated with 4th place.

In 2000, Watermann dissolved the children's choir for reasons of age and could not find a successor. A successor choir was initially continued by the parents from 2001 and led by the music teacher Olaf Meyer. From October 2008 the choir was led by the Minden Music School as a concert choir. In November 2010, the music school parted ways with the name and repertoire of the Minden Children's Choir and instead continues a choir called La Bocca Nova . The Minden Children's Choir has therefore been dissolved under its previous name.
