The Mindener Messe is a fair that takes place on the Kanzlers Weide fairground in the East Westphalian city of Minden in early May as a May fair and in early November as an autumn fair. In autumn 2010 it took place for the hundredth time on the Chancellor's pasture.

history

In August 1528, the Minden Bishop Franz zu Minden passed a decree that eight days after Walpurgis and eight days before Martini, annual markets were to be held on the market square in Minden for the benefit of trade. First, the Minden fair took place on Königsplatz in the upper old town. In 1960 she moved to the Kanzlers Weide fairground on the right bank of the Weser, which offered more space here.

The Mindener fair is also called the largest fair on the Weser. Around 130 showmen from the Minden-Lübbecke showman's association organize the week-long fun on the right bank of the Weser on the Weserwiesen with numerous rides and attractions. Affiliated is a regional trade show, the Mindener Herbst, which presents products and services at the autumn fair.

The 100th fair was supported by the high wire artist Falko Traber , who shows his artistic show on the Weserwiesen and above the festival area.

The course of the festival

The fair is traditionally opened on the first Saturday by the Mayor of Minden, on Wednesday the family day takes place with reduced prices, on Friday the traditional firework display ends.
