Mingus Mountain is a 2,355 meter high mountain in the Black Hills - mountain range in Yavapai County of the US state of Arizona . It is located in the Prescott National Forest not far from the city of Prescott . From the mountain there is a good view of the Verde Valley and the towns of Cottonwood , Jerome and Clarkdale . There are campsites.

According to Marshall Trimble's book Roadside History of Arizona , Mingus Mountain was named after Joseph and Jacob Mingus, two brothers who settled in the area in the 1880s and later built a sawmill near the base of the mountain.

Others

The musician Justin Chancellor of the band Tool was married on the mountain.
