Yavapai County is a county located in the US state of Arizona in the United States . The county seat is Prescott .
geography
The county is located west of the geographic center of Arizona and has an area of 21,039 square kilometers, of which approximately eleven square kilometers are water. In the county are the Prescott National Forest and in it the Mingus Mountain .
history
Yavapai County was formed on November 8, 1864 as one of the four original counties. From it the counties Apache , Coconino , Maricopa and Navajo were formed in the following period . The county's current boundaries have existed since 1891. The county was named after the Yavapai people , the indigenous people of this area.
132 buildings and sites in the county are listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) (as of May 8, 2020), including the Jerome Historic District the status of a National Historic Landmark . 65 of the properties are in the city of Prescott.

After the census in 2010 two hundred and eleven thousand and thirty-three people lived in Yavapai County. There were 70,171 households and 46,733 families. The population density was 8 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 91.89 percent white, 0.39 percent African American, 1.60 percent Native American, 0.51 percent Asian, 0.08 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 3.58 percent from other ethnic groups Groups; 1.95 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 9.78 percent of the population.
Of the 70,171 households, 23.8 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 55.0 percent were married couples living together, 8.1 percent were single mothers, 33.4 percent were non-families. 26.7 percent were single households and 12.4 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.33 and the average family size was 2.79 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 21.1 percent of residents under 18 years of age, 7.1 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 22.4 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, 27.4 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 22.0 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males, for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 93.5 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 34,901 , and the median income for a family is $ 40,910. Males had a median income of $ 30,738 versus $ 22,114 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,727. 11.9 percent of the population and 7.9 percent of families are below the poverty line. This included 15.9 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 6.7 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
