The Pima County is located in the south of the US state of Arizona . The county seat is Tucson .
history
Pima County, one of the first four counties in Arizona, was founded in 1864 and named after the Pima Indians who live here. Pima County was founded on land acquired from the Gadsden purchase in 1853. Originally the county comprised the part of Arizona east of 113 ° 20 'west longitude and south of the Gila River , bounded on the south by the border with Sonora , Mexico , and on the east by the border with New Mexico . Soon after, Cochise , Graham, and Santa Cruz Counties emerged and Pima Counties became smaller.
191 buildings and sites of the county are in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) listed (as of 7 May 2020), including have the Air Force Facility Missile Site 8 , the Desert Laboratory , the Mission San Xavier del Bac and the Ventana Cave the National Historic Landmarks status .

Pima County had a population of 843,746 people as of the 2000 census . There were 332,350 households and 212,039 families. The population density was 35 inhabitants per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 75.07 percent white, 3.03 percent African American, 3.22 percent Native American, 2.04 percent Asian, 0.13 percent of residents from the Pacific island area and 13.30 percent from other ethnic groups together; 3.21 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 29.34 percent of the population.
Of the 332,350 households, 29.2 percent had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 47.7 percent were married couples living together, 11.8 percent were single mothers, and 36.2 percent were non-families. 28.5 were single households and 9.4 percent had people aged 65 or over. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.06.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 24.6 percent of residents under the age of 18, 10.9 percent between 18 and 24 years of age, 28.4 percent between 25 and 44 years of age, and 21.9 percent between 45 and 64 years of age 14.2 percent were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 95.7 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 92.7 males.
The median income for a household in the 36,758 USD , and the median income for a family was 44,446 USD. Males had a median income of $ 32,156 versus $ 24,959 for females. The per capita income was $ 19,785. 14.7 percent of the population and 10.5 percent of families are below the poverty line. 19.4 percent of them are under 18 years of age and 8.2 percent are 65 years of age or older.

There are five parishes in Pima County, including two cities and three towns . For statistical purposes, the US Census Bureau maintains 49 census-designated places that are subordinate to the county and are not self-governing. Like the Unincorporated Communities, these are unincorporated areas.
