Marana is a city in Pima County in the US state of Arizona , northwest of Tucson . It has about 35,000 inhabitants (as of 2010) on an area of 190.5 km² and is located on Interstate 10 .
Economy and Infrastructure
The city is known for the airport " Pinal Airpark " ( IATA code MZJ), which is also nicknamed "Marana Air Museum". Along with the Mojave Air & Space Port in California, this airfield is probably the best-known parking space for decommissioned aircraft. The Evergreen Air Center (EAC) company operates at Pinal Airpark and maintains old aircraft and keeps them in an airworthy condition. It is therefore a good omen for an aircraft if it is parked in Marana, as it is usually prepared here for a possible sale. Some of the other parking spaces (e.g. Greenwood, Mississippi), on the other hand, are considered a certain death sentence for aircraft, as only recycling facilities are located there.
