Minthe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Minthe ( Greek  Μίνθη ) is the name of a naiad and a mountain (1,221 m) on the Peloponnese in Greek mythology .

history

Hades rarely left the underworld ; one reason was usually his sexual desire . One day he blinded the nymph Minthe, daughter of Cocytus, with the shine of his golden chariot. Before Hades could seduce the nymph, Persephone turned her into a fragrant herb, namely a mint .

The nymph Leuke suffered a similar fate : when Hades tried to rape her, his wife Persephone turned the girl into a silver poplar , which now stands by the pond of memory.
