Minuscule 53 (numbered after Gregory-Aland ), ε 444 ( from Soden ) is a Greek minuscule manuscript of the New Testament on 140 sheets of parchment (15.5 × 11.5 cm). Using paleography , the manuscript was dated to the 13th or 14th century.

description

The code contains the full text of the four gospels . It was written in one column with 29–33 lines each in beautiful letters. The code contains prolegomena, κεφαλαια, signatures, but Ammonian sections and the Eusebian canon are missing.

The Greek text of the Codex represents the Byzantine text type and is assigned to Category V.

history

The manuscript written by Nikolaus (?), Monk. It was examined by John Mill and Johann Jakob Griesbach .

The Codex is currently in the Bodleian Library (Selden Supra 28) in Oxford .
