The Mirador del Estrecho [ miɾaðoɾ del estɾetʃo ] ( Spanish for "lookout point of the strait") is an approximately 300 m height at the Strait of Gibraltar ( Spanish Estrecho de Gibraltar ) situated lookout in the province of Cádiz in southern Spain . It is located about 6 kilometers northeast of Tarifa on the national road 340 to Algeciras .
The viewpoint allows an exceptional view over the Strait of Gibraltar. There is a café , a parking lot and some telescopes here . The distance between the European and the African continent is only 15 kilometers at this point. On a clear day the view extends to Ceuta in the east and Tangier in the west .
