Mircea Ionescu-Quintus
Mircea Ionescu-Quintus (born March 18, 1917 in Cherson , Cherson Governorate , Russian Empire , today Ukraine ; † September 15, 2017 in Ploieşti ) was a Romanian politician , writer and lawyer . He belonged to the liberal PNL .
Before the Communists came to power , Ionescu-Quintus became a member of the PNL in 1945. Politically persecuted during the 1950s, he became Vice President of the re-established PNL in 1990. Ionescu-Quintus was Minister of Justice in Theodor Stolojan's cabinet . From 1993 to 2001 he served as party leader.
Mircea Ionescu-Quintus, meanwhile honorary chairman of the PNL, was a liberal senator in the Romanian parliament until 2004.
