Miriam Kilali

Miriam Kilali (born March 21, 1965 in Bendorf ) is a German artist. She became internationally known for her art projects entitled "Wealth". Kilali lives in Berlin.

Life

Kilali graduated from 1994 to 2000 with a degree in fine arts at the Berlin Art Academy and the University of the Arts. From 2000 to 2003, she completed a Master of Arts degree at the University of the Arts in Berlin . She worked in Moscow, Tunis, Venice and New York to film Cecilia and in Georgia.

The wealth projects pursue the goal of bringing the topics of “ wealth ” and “ poverty ” into close contact with one another, apart from the purely material-consumption-oriented context. It's an artistic vision. In both wealth projects, houses in which permanently homeless, addicts are housed, were beautified under artistic aspects in such a way that they express prosperity and aesthetics. Most of the projects were financed with donations. About 130,000 euros were spent on the Berlin art project “Reichtum 2”. The implementation generated both public praise and heated discussions. Currently (2012) the artist is working on “Reichtum 3” in New York.
