Miribilla is a district of Bilbao ( Vizcaya , Spain ), of the District Ibaiondo belongs (District 5).

history

Miribilla is a relatively new district with an area of ​​around 0.4 km², very close to the center of Bilbao. It was built where previously there were only the remains of an old iron deposit, which the former mining companies Abandoned, Malaespera and San Luis carried out. In 1998, the first planning began, with the construction of houses, the completion of which took place in 2003, began in 2000. There are still some plots to be planned and some blocks of flats under construction.

About 3000 new houses were built and a 5  hectare park was created. The district has a shopping center, new streets and several communal facilities. These include the New Sports Palace , El Fronton Bizkaia and the buildings of the fire brigade and the city police of Bilbao. In 2017 the district had 8,705 inhabitants.

Railway station (after opening in 2008)

The newly built Miribilla subway station , which connects the new district with the other districts with the network operated by Renfe , opened on December 18, 2008. The station is almost 50 meters underground, making it the deepest station in the entire ADIF network.
