Martina Kudláček (* 1965 in Vienna ) is an Austrian film director , screenwriter , camerawoman and film producer .

Life

Martina Kudláček began her studies in theater, film and media studies at the University of Vienna . From 1989 she studied at the FAMU film and television academy in Prague, where she obtained her master's degree in documentary directing. Between 1998 and 2004 Martina Kudláček worked with the filmmaker Jonas Mekas at the Anthology Film Archives in New York . She had her first international success in 2001 with the documentary Im Spiegel der Maya Deren , for which she received the Vienna Film Prize , among other things .

Kudláček is married to the American filmmaker Henry Hills , who was responsible for editing her films Im Spiegel der Maya Deren (2001), Notes on Marie Menken (2006) and Fragments of Kubelka (2012).
