Mirin (also: Merinus, Merin) was a later canonized Irish monk and missionary of the 6th / 7th centuries. Century. Before moving to Scotland for missionary work , he was prior of Bangor Abbey .

Mirin came from Ireland , but, like other Irish clergymen (e.g. Columban of Iona ), as a result of the island's close ecclesiastical ties to Scotland, came to Scotland, where he founded the Paisley Monastery at the beginning of the 7th century. He died there (around 620?), Whereupon the place developed into a place of pilgrimage.

The feast day of the saint is September 15th. Among other things, Mirin is the patron saint of the Roman Catholic diocese of Paisley .
