Mirka Francia Vasconcelos (born February 14, 1975 in Santa Clara ) is a Cuban - Italian volleyball player .
Career
Francia won the gold medal at the Olympic Games with the Cuban national team in 1996 and 2000 . There are also two gold medals at the 1994 and 1998 World Championships, as well as victories at the World Grand Prix and the World Cup .
From 1998 to 2008 Francia played in Italy, first with Romanelli Florence and since 1999 with Pallavolo Sirio Perugia , with whom she was Italian champion and cup winner three times as well as all European club competitions ( Champions League , Cup Winners' Cup and CEV Cup ). From 2008 to 2012 Francia was active at Eczacıbaşı Istanbul , where she won the Turkish Cup three times and the Turkish Championship in 2012.
Francia has won several awards for “best block player”, “best attacker” and “best point collector”. In 2019 she was inducted into the " Volleyball Hall of Fame ".
Private
Francia has lived in Italy since 2000. She has had a son since 2001 and has also been an Italian citizen since 2004.
