Miroslav Soukup (born November 13, 1965 in Prachatice ) is a former Czech football player and current football coach .
Player career
Soukup played for Tatran Prachatice , RH Žižkov and again Tatran Prachatice. In 1990 the midfielder went to Germany and joined TV Freyung. From 1995 to 1997 and from 1997 to 2001 he was player-coach at FC Salzweg and in Freyung .
Coaching career
Soukup began his coaching career as an active player: from 1995 to 2000 he was head of the junior department at Tatran Prachatice. At the same time he was player-coach in Salzweg and Freyung. In the 2001/02 season he took over the 1st team from Tatran Prachatice in the 3rd division (ČFL) and led the team to second place. A year later Soukup celebrated the championship in the ČFL and the associated promotion to the 2nd division with the team . Sokup looked after the team until the winter break and was then replaced by Karel Musil . In 2003 and 2004, Soukup was also responsible for the junior division at Dynamo České Budějovice .
At the beginning of 2004 Soukup became assistant coach at 1. FC Brno. He held this post until April 2008. Also in 2004 Soukup took over the Czech U18 team. At the U-19 European Football Championship in 2006 , he led the team to the semi-finals, with which the team qualified for the 2007 Junior World Cup . In Canada , the U20 reached the final, which they lost 2-1 to Argentina.
After this success Soukup moved as assistant coach to Vítězslav Lavička for the Czech U21 team. From May 2008 the Czech coaches the Egyptian U20 team.
