Mis-Teeq was a female R&B and garage house trio from the UK . After trying to get started in the US, the band announced their split on January 31, 2005.

history

founding

In the spring of 1999, Sabrina Washington and Alesha Dixon first became aware of each other during a joint dance class in South West London. The two discovered musical parallels and decided to gain a foothold in the music business as a duo. Barely six months later, Su-Elise Nash and Zena McNally, who Sabrina and Alesha met during a casting, joined the group and Mis-Teeq grew into a quartet. With the signing of their record deal in 2000, the disagreements within the band increased drastically, so that McNally, even before the release of the first single Why , decided to quit.

First successes

The debut single developed into a hit and reached number 8 in the British single charts. The subsequent release All I Want was able to surpass this success with a 2nd place and increase the level of awareness of the current trio. Her record company , Telstar Records , decided to release the debut album Lickin 'On Both Sides . This climbed to number 3 in the album charts and, in addition to the other releases B With Me and Roll On / This Is How We Do It , also produced the first international single One Night Stand .

In early 2003, Mis-Teeq returned with their second album, Eye Candy . The single Scandalous became a worldwide hit and paved the way for two more releases: Can't Get It Back , a remix of the Blaque song of the same name , and Style , which was released as a single when the album was re-released in the summer of the same year.

Dissolution of the band

In 2004 the band tried to gain a foothold in the USA with their music . The first single One Night Stand (as a remix and with a new video) achieved considerable success for a foreign production. It reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Charts and promoted the release of the album Mis-Teeq , which was composed of tracks from the two first works. At about the same time, their record company had to file for bankruptcy because of huge losses , which were not caused by Mis-Teeq itself, but by the lack of success of various other artists, such as Victoria Beckham . Even before their last album, Greatest Hits , was released, now under the Universal label , the three singers announced the breakup of their band on January 31, 2005.
