Alesha Anjanette Dixon (born October 7, 1978 in Welwyn Garden City , Hertfordshire ), also known only as Alesha , is an English pop singer and dancer.

biography

Alesha became known as a member of Mis-Teeq , which had a number of hits between 2001 and 2003. After the trio broke up in 2005, she tried to start a solo career, but when her debut single Lipstick in England did not get past number 14 and the second single did not even reach the top 40, the record company Polydor stopped their already finished album and ended the Collaboration.

She then appeared as a photo model in various magazines such as FHM and Arena , and in 2007 she took part in the fifth season of the dance show Strictly Come Dancing . After twelve rounds, she won the competition together with her professional partner Matthew Cutler. She had other television appearances as a presenter at music awards ceremonies and a juror at casting shows.

After her newly gained popularity, she was already being traded in betting shops as a candidate for the 2007 Christmas hit with the music of the dance show, although nothing of the kind was planned. In the summer of 2008 she got a new record deal with Asylum / Warner for four albums. Her second musical attempt, The Alesha Show , was produced for a November release. The pre-single The Boy Does Nothing , a Mambo song based on her dance success, became a top 5 hit and was also able to place itself internationally. The second single, Breathe Slow , even reached number 3 in the UK.

On July 3rd, 2009 Alesha gave her only concert in Germany as a solo artist during the Rhineland-Palatinate Day 2009 in Bad Kreuznach .

Since 2012 Dixon member of the jury of the British talent show Britain's Got Talent .
