Lists on the subject

The Misagh-2 is an Iranian short -range surface-to-air guided missile system designed as a Man Portable Air Defense System (MANPADS) to combat helicopters and fighter aircraft at low altitudes.

technology

The Misagh-2 system is an Iranian replica of the Chinese QianWei-2 MANPADS, which in turn is a replica of the Russian 9K310 Igla-1 . Furthermore, it represents a modernized version of the Misagh-1 . The then incumbent Iranian Defense Minister initiated mass production on February 2, 2006. In February 2017, the Iranian Ministry of Defense presented the modernized version, the Misagh-3 .

commitment

The Misagh-2 has been used by the Iranian armed forces alongside other MANPADS models since the mid-2000s . In addition, the system appears to have been supplied to pro-Shiite groups involved in the Houthi conflict .
