Misaki Morizono ( Japanese 森 園 美 咲 Morizono Misaki ; born April 16, 1992 in Nishitōkyō , Tokyo Prefecture ) is a Japanese table tennis player .

Career

Morizono had international appearances for the first time in 2008. She was able to win bronze in doubles and silver with the team at the Youth World Championships. In mixed she was eliminated with Kōki Niwa in the quarterfinals, in singles she also had to throw in the towel in the round of the last eight.

In 2009, the Japanese took part in both the Youth World Cup and the Adult World Cup, but was only able to win precious metal at the Youth World Cup. Due to strong Japanese competition, she had fewer international appearances, but was able to win the Bulgaria Open 2016 in doubles. In 2014 she also qualified for the World Tour Grand Finals , in which she reached the second round.

In the 2009/10 season she played with the team from Hannover 96 in the German women's Bundesliga .

Morizono is an attacking player. She uses the STIGA Clipper CR as the wood. On her forehand, she relies on the Tenergy 05, while on the backhand of her racket she plays with the Mizuno Booster EV.

Private

Misaki Morizono's brothers Masataka and Mizuki also play table tennis internationally.
