Misha Bolourie

Life

Bolourie wrote his first poems and painted his first pictures at the age of five. He attended the art school in Tabriz from 1964 to 1966 and then studied at the art college in Tehran . Here he became active for the underground movement against the Shah regime. He published revolutionary poems anonymously and read to students and young writers. The conviction and execution of several members of the resistance as terrorists formed the basis of the "We Terrorists" project.

In 1979 Bolourie left for Germany, where he published political articles in opposition Iranian magazines. Between 1982 and 1986 he worked with disabled and non-disabled children in the Hamburg studio. In 1989 he received a scholarship from the Hamburg Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Culture to promote his project "We Terrorists". Since 1995 he has been working on the lighting project “100,000 lights for 100,000 children who die every day”, which was performed in August 1996 on Cologne's Domplatte.

One million city of lights 2004

On August 20, 2004, as part of the “One Million City of Lights Berlin” project, one million candles were lit and set up around the Victory Column in Berlin by five thousand students in Berlin schools on the initiative of World Vision Germany . Numerous television stations and the press broadcast the project worldwide. The audience quota in Germany alone was 22.7 million. The action was accompanied by a sound composition by Simon Stockhausen.

Bolourie's latest project “Percussion Cosinus X3” received an award in 2009 as part of the “Germany - Land of Ideas” initiative. It is a composition of art, music and language and will be realized on the World Day of Peace, September 21, 2011, at the Berlin Victory Column.

Drawing from the cycle Big and great drawings

art

Bolourie's works consist of several cycles that convey contemporary stories. "Big and great drawings" are dust pictures, drawn with charcoal and pigments on paper (600 × 250 cm). Violent eruptive pictures, drawings and sketches (600 × 300 cm) about the story "Rubens in St. Pauli" result in an amazing and not immediately illuminating combination.
