Miska Kangasniemi (born January 6, 1975 in Jyväskylä ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player .

Career

Miska Kangasniemi began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of JYP Jyväskylä , for whose professional team he was active from 1994 to 1998 in the SM-liiga , the highest Finnish league. The defender of Tappara Tampere was then signed . With the team he was runner- up in the 2000/01 and 2001/02 seasons before he won the Finnish championship title in the 2002/03 season in the third attempt with Tappara . For the 2004/05 season he moved to the Malmö Redhawks from the Swedish Elitserien . At the end of the season he had to accept relegation with his team to the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan , in which he achieved direct promotion with Malmö in the following season . However, he himself returned to his hometown club JYP Jyväskylä, for which he was on the ice from 2006 to 2008 in the SM-liiga. Following the 2008/09 season , which he spent again at Tappara Tampere, he ended his career at the age of 34.

International

For Finland , Kangasniemi took part in the 1995 U20 World Youth Championship . In the senior sector, he was in his country's 2003 squad for the Euro Hockey Tour .
