The abuse is an Austrian lifestyle magazine for young women . It was founded in 2002 and is part of the Styria Media Group AG. The magazine appears monthly in print. In addition, miss operates the online portal miss.at and a Facebook fan page. The editor-in-chief is Monika Affenzeller.

MissMEDIA GmbH was founded in November 2016 to focus on the digital strategy of miss. Monika Affenzeller and Jochen Hahn are the managing directors of missMEDIA GmbH.

history

The first issue of miss came onto the market on August 23, 2002; before that, the magazine had been published for four years under the title WIENERIN youngworld .

In 2001 ET Multimedia AG, which the Styria Media Group took over in 2005, took over the magazine WIENERIN youngworld from Metro-Verlag. With her came SKIP - Das Kinomagazin (no longer part of the group since 2011) and the magazine WIENERIN .

The magazine has been published in pocket format since 2004 and the title changed to "miss - Austria's honest 22 cm" . The 100th issue of the magazine was published on April 2, 2009. On its 15th birthday in July 2017, missMAGAZIN announced a net reach of 6.5 percent in the core target group of 16 to 35 year old women.

Monika Affenzeller has been editor-in-chief of miss since 2013 and focuses on a cross-media orientation and a stronger interlinking of print and web content. In April 2014, the women's portal miss.at was launched as a supplement to the print magazine. The miss.at portal rose to become the largest women’s portal in Austria within a few months. At the beginning of 2015, the women's brand miss set another digital milestone and launched missAPP, a mobile version of the women's portal.

The women's media brand miss recorded a 19 percent increase in sales in 2017. In addition to the strong growth in the digital business, the print advertising business also experienced significant growth: missMAGAZIN was able to increase advertising sales by 11 percent compared to the previous year, while sales revenues fell by 8.3 percent.

missMUM

The digital project missMUM, launched in spring 2016, is a digital women's magazine for young mothers. Just one year after its launch, the women's medium rose to become the leading portal - according to ÖWA with over 640,000 visits in March 2017. The smartphone is the most important information and entertainment tool for young digital native mothers and their use of social media is above average . That is why missMUM provides its readers with daily editorial topics relating to pregnancy, childbirth and parenting. The target group can find missMUM content directly on Facebook, Instagram, at missmum.at, in missmissAPP and missMAGAZIN.

missMIND

According to its own statements, missMIND's creative / PR & social media experts are based at missMIND. In addition to editorial content, the team works with advertisers to develop relevant media content and prepare it for the target group (digital, mobile and in print).

Range

The magazine's target group are young women between 16 and 35 years of age. In 2017, the magazine had a readership of 78,000 (MA 17) within the target group of 16 to 35 year olds, with a national reach of 7.3 percent. The distribution area is Austria .

According to the Austrian Web Analysis (ÖWA) from April 2018, the online offer of miss reached 1.28 million unique clients, 3.02 million visits and over 12.70 million page views .

Miss was able to improve the qualitative values ​​on Facebook: the fan engagement rate increased by almost four percentage points to 14 percent compared to the previous year. The Facebook fan page currently has over 615,000 fans.

Actions

The social media soap missBFF has been held annually since 2016. Two best friends (BFF) are cast from German-speaking countries and sent on a three-month trip around the world. They share their experiences via social media. The focus of the reporting is on moving images and live formats. In 2018, the concept was adapted and the best friends complete a one-month internship in the editorial department of miss before the trip. In addition to the preparation of texts and the creation and selection of the appropriate photos, the right use of social media and native customer integration were in the foreground.
