Missa parvulorum Dei

Missa parvulorum Dei ( lat. Mass of the Children of God ) is a mass for solo soprano, choir and orchestra, which was composed by Ralf Grössler (* 1958). The work was first performed in 1989. It is also known as the Gospel Mass .

Grössler incorporated elements from gospel, blues and jazz into his work. The entire fair is in English.

construction

The mass follows the structure of an ordinarium missae , but is supplemented by further movements (1st, 2nd, 6th, 9th, and 10th). The performance lasts about 55 minutes.

  9. Finale ( May the lord give you increase, you and your children , Ps 115,14  EU ) The finale ends with the repetition of “ For you alone are the holy one ” from the Gloria.

instrumentation

The mass is sung by a soprano soloist and a four-part choir ( SATB ). The wind section consists of two trumpets, two trombones and an alto saxophone. Two violins, a viola, a violoncello and a double bass are named as strings. The percussion consists of drums and timpani. In addition to the piano, there is also a vibraphone , which creates a special atmosphere, especially in meditation.
