history

The Roots of the Dominican Missionaries of St. The hearts of Jesus are in the Dominican convent of St. Ursula in Augsburg , one of the early monasteries of the Dominican order . From there in 1877 a small group of sisters in King Willam's Town had organized a new congregation. From this congregation the Community of Dominican Missionary Sisters of St. From the heart of Jesus. In 1917 two sisters and three novices founded the Strahlfeld Monastery on a vacation in Germany , which became a training center for young missionaries.

Activities in Germany

The sisters are located in the dioceses of Regensburg, Cologne, Munich and Hildesheim. There they are active in pastoral care - in community and hospital pastoral care, in retreat work and spiritual support, in creative work, in care for the elderly and in curative education. In addition, they publish the mission magazine “Continents” together with 24 missionary orders.

Activities outside of Germany

In Africa, Dominican Missionaries are most active in Zimbabwe and Zambia. This is where the order of sisters has the highest number of children. They work in schools of various types, in nursing, in the social-charitable area and in pastoral work.

There are small groups of sisters in Kenya, Colombia and England.
