The mission cross Giesenkirchen stands at Vikarienweg in the district Giesenkirchen in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

The cross was built in 1863. It was entered under No. V 030 on July 28, 2009 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

On the Vikarienweg, on the southwest side of the Catholic. Parish church St. Gereon , directly on Konstantinplatz in the district of Giesenkirchen, there is a slim, high missionary cross , a stepped substructure rises above the foundation. A vertical rectangular and recessed field in the middle part for the inscription is highlighted by a frame :

"Save your soul. Mission 1863"

Above this are tapered roofs that lead to the base of the cross stem. The cross has strong beams, bevelled at the ends, and has a three-dimensional stone corpus and a plaque above it: " INRI ".

The object is important for human history. There is a public interest in its preservation and use for reasons of local history and folklore. The property is worth protecting as a monument.
