St. Gereon

The Catholic parish church of St. Gereon is in the district Giesenkirchen in Mönchengladbach ( Nordrhein-Westfalen ).

The building was built in 1907/08. It was entered under No. K 026 on September 24, 1985 in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach .

architecture

It is a three-aisled cross-rib vaulted basilica with neo-Gothic shapes with a tower in front , a protruding transept and a polygonal choir extended by a narrow intermediate bay with a 7/12 end. 1907/08 built in a new north-south orientation after the old parish church was closed. The tower was added in 1910/1911.

The property is worth preserving as the historical architectural monument that is decisive for the townscape of Giesenkirchen.
