Misys was a listed British software company. The company's focus was on developing applications for banks , insurers and the healthcare system . Misys was founded in 1979 and has grown organically over the years. In 1987 the company went public and in 1998, after taking over several other companies, it became the first company in the information technology sector to be included in the FTSE 100 .
Misys was merged into the financial technology company Finastra in late 2017 .
