history

The company was founded on July 13, 1871. The company received the concession to build a 7.6 km long railway line from the end point of the Forest of Dean Railway at Cinderford to the railway line of the Hereford, Ross and Gloucester Railway at Lea . The construction financed by the Great Western Railway was largely completed when the company was taken over by the Great Western Railway on August 6, 1880. In July 1885 the first 2.8 kilometers and on November 4, 1907 the section to Drybrook was put into operation. The rest of the route was unused.
