Mithridates IV (Pontus)
Mithridates IV. Philopator Philadelphos was the sixth king of Pontus and ruled from about 155 to about 152/151 BC. Chr.
Life
Mithridates IV. Was a son of Mithridates III. of Pontos and followed between 160 and 155 BC. His brother Pharnakes I on the throne. He married his sister Laodike , had their joint portraits minted on coins and adopted the nickname Philadelphos (= sister-lover), which he uses on his coins as well as the cognomen Philopator (= father-lover). With Rome he entered into an alliance and therefore sent in the winter of 155/154 BC. King Attalus II of Pergamon auxiliary troops for his fight against Prusias II of Bithynia. No further information about his government is known.
