Mitragyna alkaloids are natural substances that belong to the mono terpenoid indole alkaloids .

Occurrence

The Mitragyna alkaloids occur in the genus Mitragyna ( Rubiaceae ). Mitragynine was isolated from Mitragyna speciosa and Mitraversine from Mitragyna parvifolia . Mitranermine was isolated from M. africana .

Representative

So far, more than 50 structurally different indole alkaloids have been isolated from Mitragyna species. a. Mitragynaline and mitragynol . Continue to count Mitragynin , Mitraversin and Mitra Ermin to this group.

Properties and use

Mitragynine is considered to be a central nervous system stimulant . It has an effect similar to that of cocaine on humans .

The Mitragyna speciosa plant and preparations made from its leaves are known as kratom in Thailand . Kratom is also used as a substitute for opium .
