The middle ground is a side valley of the Roten Weißeritz near Dippoldiswalde in the district of Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains . In the bottom section, he is since 1974 as part of the conservation area, the valley of the Red Weißeritz reported.

The middle ground at the mouth

The Alte Spechtritzer Strasse (also Leichenweg ) ran through the ground, but after the construction of the Neue Spechtritzer Strasse in 1839 to become the Alte Meißner Strasse , it became less important. It is already mentioned on the Berlin miles sheets around 1800.

Mittelgrundbach

The stream of the same name runs through the entire length of this part, except for the piped upper part, which has been converted into a field. At the confluence with the Weißeritz is the underpass of the old railway line, the Weißeritztalbahn, built in 1882 .

Landscape protection

On July 4, 1974, the lower section was placed under protection as part of the "Tal der Roten Weißeritz" conservation area.
