The regions of Holstein and Schleswig

Mittelholstein is the name for the landscape in the center of Schleswig-Holstein , roughly between the cities of Rendsburg - Kiel - Neumünster - Itzehoe .

In addition to its use in tourism, the term is now used in the name of various companies, associations and institutions, even if it is a bit misleading, because the Schleswig region already begins at Rendsburg .

On January 1, 2012, as part of the administrative structural reform, the Mittelholstein office was created , in which the Aukrug office, the Hohenwestedt municipality, the Hohenwestedt-Land office and the Hanerau-Hademarschen office were combined. There is also the Sparkasse Mittelholstein based in Rendsburg.
