The center of the canton of Zurich is in the area of the municipality of Wangen-Brüttisellen in the canton of Zurich .

Geographic (geometric)

The geographical center of the canton of Zurich was found in 2007 in a project by vocational school students and high school students. It is located above Wangen near Dübendorf .

The "Manne mit Schpeuz", an association of retired people from Wangen, had got wind of the fact that the center of the canton was on their home soil and had this officially confirmed. Two teachers from the Uster Education Center heard about this and offered a cross-school project with the aim of precisely determining the geometric center of the canton.

On November 17, 2007, the center of the Canton of Zurich was ceremoniously marked under the patronage and in the presence of government colleague Ursula Gut . An iron sculpture and a plaque on a huge boulder were anchored at the place above Wangen.

The geodetic center, the center of the official survey, of the Canton of Zurich, however, is in Brütten .

On the occasion of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of official surveying in Switzerland, Government Councilor Markus Kägi presented the viewpoint with the new surveying pillar designed by Teufen-based sculptor Ueli Thalmann to the population on May 12, 2012 .
